Artist Name: Anca

From radio station interviews to fashion show concerts, Duval’s very own Hip-Hop sensation, by the name of Anca, is making some major moves. Constantly and consistently dropping hot and innovative music for her myriad of fans, there’s no debate, in my opinion, when it comes to crowning the Queen of Hip-Hop in the Duval Area. It’s not only her ability, but her confidence and Steez that allows her to escalate far beyond the local competition, breaking down all of the stereotypical boundaries placed against females in the industry. She doesn’t have to degrade herself for attention, her mic skills are enough. Tearing up the Jacksonville scene one venue at a time, I was surprised that I was able to score an interview opportunity with her.

Who is Anca? And what keeps you motivated to pursue a career in music?

ANCA is the most Super-Dope artist(rapper) who happens to be a female.

What keeps me motivated is the constant flow of love and support from both old and new listeners. They love my music. I cant disappoint them, and I won’t fail myself.

What image do you think your music conveys?

That’s such a good question!
I’m not sure what image the listener gets, but I can say that the image I’ve always wanted to paint with my music is one of multi-color, love, and real life situations that touches and guides any type of person towards a happier place within themselves.

What are your immediate music career goals?

Im just striving to touch as many ear drums and hearts as possible, and make enough money to take care of home in the process.

What are your long-term career goals?

To be the biggest artist in the world and breakdown the barrier completely, for all females whether they’re artists, doctors, house-wives, bus drivers, or whatever. I feel as though women don’t get enough respect and recognition for the things we do in this world, and that has to change. I plan on changing that.

How would you define the word ‘success’?

Happiness and satisfaction within oneself. If you’re happy about the ‘C-’ u get on a final exam or satisfied with the type of car you drive, and no one can change/take that feeling from you, well. ‘success’.

How do you view the current condition of Hip-Hop and Rap? And what do you think is the best plan of action to not only increase it’s popularity but limit it’s increasing negativity?

Honestly I feel that Real hip-hop/rap is at a cold stand-still. The way to change that is to eliminate all the wanna-be’s and cant-be’s and get back to the real music.

As far as barriers go, it seems that nothing in this world will deter Anca’s path to stardom and I’m rooting for her every step of the way. It’s her determination and hard-work that really sets her apart from the rest, and I hope that people will notice and follow her positive example.

Artist Name: Darren Roberts

An innovative and talented producer, with his own arsenal of lyrics to match, Darren Roberts is definitely the Kanye West of Jacksonville. His name has quickly began to get major recognition after the release of his second self-produced album entitled, Don’t Wait Up. Honestly, I feel like this kid has a lot of potential and if he puts in the work he could become the number one producer in Duval in a few years . I’ve worked with him on a couple of occasions and he always delivers a verse that I have to work hard to contend with. He’s dedicated to his music and you can feel his passion in each one of his tracks, and that’s what keeps his fan base growing with each new release. I definitely look forward to seeing him grow and expand over time and hopefully make an impact in the mainstream industry.

Piece of mind: In my opinion, he’s Duval’s best club artist and he’s definitely got a solid spot in the top 10 artist in Duval, hands down.

Piece of mind: Duval’s lyricist #NuffSaid. Mavrique continues to impress and his fan base is continually growing.

Artist Name: Masta-Mind

Piece of mind: An up and coming artist out of the St.John’s area, he promises to be a Beast in time.

My Corner:

As far as my own endeavours go, I’ve definitely been hard at work. I have been planning shows, expanding my connections, recording, and promoting my latest mixtape, Duval’s Prodigy. My biggest news of the moment is my latest project, Santa’s Hitlist. I’ll be dropping one new track every day from Dec.1st To Dec.25th filled with collaborations with some of the area’s hottest upcoming artists.
