Brotherocean by Syd Matters

Interesting artwork for new music is always exciting, and this is no different with French born Syd Matters. Syd Matters began as a solo musician and then went on to form a four-piece band which is what we hear in their new album Brotherocean. The album presents a folky, oceanic sound which is easy to listen […]

Stagecoach : Plug ‘N’ Play

Paris Fleche d'Or -Yup

This Surrey-bred band gave us spectacle of happiness at Reading’s Plug ‘n’ Play. Stagecoach are an up and coming British quintet with a US indie sound. Dressed in their skinnies and the T-shirt’s of inspirational bands, they demonstrated the true spirit of Indie.
Lead singer Luca tells us that their main influences sprung from the […]

Foals : Blue Blood

Blue Blood exposes Foals for what they really are– geniuses at creating something powerful from simple repetition and melody.

I am an English Literature student at Reading University. The thing that I love most about music is the power it has over my life; each song I adore takes me to a significant time or place in my life and for that I cannot live without it!
It was whilst watching one of my friends perform where I realised I wanted to write about music. It was one of those performances where she had really let her herself go and stunned everyone who was watching. After that, all I wanted to do was tell everyone just how amazing it was, which brings me to where I am now.
My musical taste spans from the classic rap rock of Linkin Park to the math rock band Foals who I adore. However, I like to see myself as very open to many different types and genres of music as well; during my life I have been through various phases of loving so many diverse sounds.
One of my favourite things to do is go to gigs and experience my favourite bands live. The sound and atmosphere which is created in a room full of people who are all passionate for the same reason is really inspirational.
