Beady Eye – Different Gear Still Speeding

After Oasis split in August 2009, everyone has been giving their two cents about who of the Gallaghers would win the race for the first solo record. Not only that, but also who would make the best one.
Liam Gallagher, along with Andy Bell, Gem Archer and Chris Sharrock, went straight to the task of creating […]

Adele – 21

A few years ago the British music scene was bursting with the retro sound of Amy Winehouse, Duffy and Adele Adkins.
While Winehouse rather quickly moved from the music press to the gossip mags, Duffy and Adele both did incredibly well with their debut albums.
This time round, it’s the same two women we rely on, to […]

I Put A Spell On You

A song’s journey through musical history

The original version of this iconic song was written by Jay Hawkins and released on his At Home With Screamin’ Jay Hawkinsin 1956. At only 2:25 minutes in length, it transformed the way we listen to, and view, music, even making its way on to The Rolling Stone Magazine’s list […]

Black City Review

Debut album from Danish band Black City combines great rhythms, clever production and catchy tunes, that will have you humming a long, long time after you’ve had your first taste of these four guys!
First track on their album (which is also their first single) is a straightforward rocker called Summertime and a perfect introduction to their music: it’s rocking, […]

The French Crops Interview

Basics first: Who are you, and why should people tune in to one of your gigs?
Hello, Hello, Hello we’re French Crops, we are a five piece band based in South East London (Eltham, Welling). We have been going for about a year and a half now, and have constantly been gigging and writing material. The band sets […]

James McCartney plays Liverpool

It can’t be easy to open your UK tour in Liverpool, when your last name is McCartney… but not THAT McCartney. But still, it felt only right that James McCartney should kick of his first headline tour in the city that created the most famous group in musical history.
James was quick to acknowledge this connection, […]

Acoustic Night – Charity gig at Studio 2, Liverpool

Set in the legendary Studio 2 in Parr Street, recording place of acts as diverse as The Spice Girls, Coldplay and Black Sabbath, the second fundraising gig from Nadal Promotions was already set to be a memorable evening.
This time featuring acoustic acts, the atmosphere was relaxed and people soon settled themselves in the soft sofas and […]

Charity Gig at The Cavern Club : 60’s Night

Since George Harrison held the world’s first charity concert in aid of the people of Bangladesh in 1971, it has become a guaranteed way to raise money, and what better way to do it?
Liverpool locals Alan Kenny and Nadeen Kemp have formed Nadal Promotions and have put together four different gigs for James Bulger House, the first […]

The Fore in Chavasse Park

As the only band to play their own songs at Beatleday in Liverpool, The Fore would have to deliver, this after all being the hometown of not only The Beatles but also the Merseysound.
From the very first chord the audience was transported back to the Sixties and the energy put forward by the band was […]

Cornershop : Liverpool O2 Academy – August 1

You would think that playing for a maximum of 100 people would generate some kind of intimate atmosphere, but sadly Cornershop never really bonded with the audience. This was not all the band’s fault although the bands communication with the audience was at a minimum and lead singer Tjinder Singh never seemed to enjoy the hour long […]

Author Bio - Ida Ottesen

I’m a 22 year-old, self-proclaimed music lover, living in Denmark. I’ve always had a passion for music, starting to play the guitar when I was 9, and listening to music 24/7. I’ve always had an open mind towards different genres, and try to keep it that way! That said, my favourite musical decade is the 1960’s,with The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Kinks, Who, Eric Clapton (who I was lucky enough to see in concert) and so on. Of more recent bands I like Snow Patrol, Paloma Faith and Travis, so “I get around” as The Beach Boys sang. From June 2009 up until March 2010 I’ve been living in Liverpool to get closer to the music I love and the English culture, but now I’m back home in Denmark, working for the weekend, and keeping up to date with what happens on the music scene, both the English and the Danish one. In addition to writing articles, I’m also interested in photography and love reading about people from the music business, it being a biography of a rockstar, a look at a city’s musical history or the
detals of recording in the 60’s. I’m a music-geek, but happy to be so!
