Chatting to Masters In France

Masters In France made their debut at the Welsh ultimate Wakeboarding Music Festival, Wakestock, in Penrhos at the beginning of July. They played in the Relentless tent on the Sunday. I caught up with members Matt and Owain after their impressive gig for a chat. Here are a few clues; they’re humble, funny, Owain gets nervous before gigs […]

Kids In Glass Houses featuring Frankie-“Undercover Lover”

It was a combination I never thought I’d hear. I hadn’t even imagined it because it just seemed inconceivable. It started when I was listening to the music channels and surfing through radio channels as you do. Up by the brilliantly girlie pop band The Saturdays came on. I thought to myself; “I haven’t heard this in a while.” As I listened […]

Lady Gaga: The Monster Ball

It’s sometime after eleven, (who knows what time it is anymore?) I’m standing in the dimly lit M.E.N Arena and the crowd is singing a memorable song about a romance that is bad. Earlier on, I’d seen a subway carriage, a violin and a “disco stick” all in the same concert. It could only be a Lady Gaga […]

Semi Precious Weapons and Alphabeat Support Lady Gaga in the M.E.N Arena

There is a New York band that are about to make it big. Semi Precious Weapons from Brooklyn, take rock and glamour to the next level. Led by the loud rough vocals of lead singer Justin Tranter, his voice is prominent over the mash up of guitars, loud drums and bass. But […]

Author Bio - Clare-Louise Roberts

I’ve always had a passion for writing and performing since very young. Music, especially singing, has always been a major part of my life. I was in school choirs all the time and as soon as I was old enough, competed in the Eisteddfod with writing, acting, choirs and on one occasion as a solo singer!

As a child, I was exposed to older music from my Mum and Dad, from their time and before. It was mainly mainstream Motown and Pop culture. I listened to The Drifters, Elton John, Diana Ross and The Supremes to name a few. I listened to Pop artists from my generation too; when I was younger I loved Britney Spears and S Club 7!

I got my very own radio and C.D’s for the first time when I was ten. I started listening to Kerrang and my knowledge of music genres began to grow again from there. I became a Christian when I was about ten or eleven after going to a Church youth group and have been going to Christian Summer Camps one week a year since I was thirteen which are amazing.

Following some advice off one of my former music teachers, I went out one day when I was about thirteen to various charity shops, all over where I lived and bought dozens of the C.D’s that come free with newspapers. I bought one in every genre that I could find and still have them all. It went from there really and I’ve loved discovering new music and new bands/solo artists ever since.

I’m a cheerleader thanks to my identical twin sister Rachael. I tried karate with her before and it never stuck but when I tried this I was hooked! I’ve done tap and ballet in the past but now I’m a street and break dancer.

I tried to set up a school newspaper quite a while ago, was also in an alternative rock band and I’ve had two radio shows on Tudno FM-these are all different stories! I was sixteen when I did work experience at a local newspaper in North Wales. That was the first time I had written work published (unless you count a terrible poem about a certain boy band in a magazine when I was eleven…They weren’t that bad so don’t judge!)

When I was working at the newspaper, I wrote a review on the musical “Chicago” that had come to Llandudno that summer. It made me start to consider combining my two passions-writing and music. I knew that reaching people was what I wanted to do-what better way than through my writing and through music? So here I am!
