Author Bio - Catrina D'Olive

Catrina D’Olive is a DJ, cellist, singer-songwriter, producer and writer. In 2006 she spent a year busking from Norway to Portugal, living in a van and improvising on the street. She is currently writing a book about her adventures called Europe on a G-String, which she intends to publish next year. As a DJ Catrina D’Olive has played her unique blend of bass-driven worldwide soul music at numerous festivals and parties across the UK. She is a founding member of the respected and forward-thinking Cornwall-based DJ collective Sir Vinyl of the Fattest, who are well known for sweaty dancefloors, inflatable tents and excellent records. Alongside DJ-ing, Catrina D’Olive has continued to work as an improvisatory cellist, playing corporate and festival gigs with two circus companies and headlining the Circus Big Top at Glastonbury two years running. In 2009 one of her tracks was released on a Big Chill compilation album called Busking for Solaraid. Her taste in music is extremely wide-ranging and has a distinctly global and underground feel. Her favourite record shop is Honest Jon’s in Ladbroke Grove, her favourite producer is Moritz Von Oswald and her favourite singer is Sister Bethany. She currently lives in Bristol.
