Getting to know R.I.P.(RapIsPower):

Interviewer :What do you want people to get out of your music?

R.I.P:Well, I’ve always wanted people to listen to my music and walk away, feeling like they’ve gained a better understanding of who I am. I also want people to be able to connect with where I’m coming from and know that in life, they’re not alone. My music is for the common man,the man experiencing life one day at a time and trying to find his place among the chaos.

I: What inspires you to write?

R: I think it’s my experiences that I go through daily. My opposition and triumphs that keep me writing. Emotional situations and new knowledge always brings me back to the pen and the pad.

I: Growing up, who inspired you to become a rapper? and how exactly did you start doing hip hop music?

R: My dad grew up in the heart of Bronx,NY and he’s always had a love for hip-hop emcees, such as Rakim, Jay-Z, and Biggie. He lived in the same apartment building as Afrika B. and he was there through the beginning of hip-hop. His love for the genre definitely rubbed off on me as I grew of age. I first started writing poetry and then started writing small songs and free-styling at the age of twelve. My dad definitely inspired me..

I: Cool. Its like your father was a part of history. Speaking of history what would you like to go down in history being known for?

R: For speaking my mind and bringing diversity to the image of southern artists. I wanna be know as that guy who connected with people of all kinds and backgrounds in a way that was completely unique and innovative.

I: Im feelin’ that, describe your style in five words or less.

R: Thought-Provoking
